Jem and The Hollow-shams.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's the trailer for the Jem and the Holograms movie.

I'll give you a moment to finish trying to revive your dead childhood.

So. Um... Yeah. Bummer.

And here's the thing-- There was so much potential. SO MUCH POTENTIAL. Even if they wanted to go for a younger audience, they completely missed the mark.

You know what my kids are doing right now? Listening to The Bangles, Eternal Flame, on repeat and singing at the top of their lungs.

We love all things 80's and now, so do they. As former 80's kids, and die hard pop culture fanatics with endless sources of technology and media at our fingertips, we share our childhood loves with our kids, and those childhood loves also become things that our children enjoy. Our kids watch our old cartoons with the same sense of joy that we used to. We get a kick out of it.

So when our 80's loving, action figure buying, Jem cartoon watching, bad-ass rock 'n roll kids want to watch a movie, they don't want to watch a teen flick. Because we don't watch that shit. They want more than just pink hair, a hollow plot and a disgusting attempt to cash in on nostalgia.

They wanted the real goddamn Jem.

We won't be going to the movies to see this after all. Instead we will be watching reruns of the Jem cartoon at home, while dreaming about the movie and the Sci-Fi, fashion forward, epic soundtracked, girl power magic that could have been.

What did YOU think of the trailer? Tell me in the comments!
